Burton P. Guidry

Burton Guidry earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Louisiana State University and graduated with his Juris Doctor from Loyola University in 1980. Since then he has practiced criminal law as both a defense attorney and a prosecutor.
His experience includes over 80 jury trials in Federal and State Courts, and hundreds of judge presided trials in almost every jurisdiction in the State of Louisiana. He is also admitted to practice in all United States Courts in Louisiana and U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit.
In addition to being a practicing trial lawyer, Mr. Guidry is a farmer, a professional musician and a writer. He also appears as “Crawdaddy, Cajun at Law”, a cajun comedy act, and performs with his touring band, “Crawdaddy and the Crustaceans” playing Cajun, Zydeco and Swamp Pop music. He has appeared many times on local and national television and radio and is the author of several columns in magazines and newspapers. He is also the author of “A Litany of Louisiana Legal Letters” a book of form letters for practicing attorneys.
Amber N. Kemmerly
Legal Assistant
Looking to earn her juris doctor by 2016, Amber Kemmerly has worked as Mr. Guidry's legal assistant for over three years. She is a recent graduate from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a Bachelor's degree in History. She is currently studying at UL to attain her master's degree in the same subject.
She is experienced in dealing with the court systems on the local, state, and federal levels, and handles Mr. Guidry's scheduling and appointments.
Marlys Scanlon

Marlys has previously been employed with the Vermilion Parish office for the 15th JDC District Attorney. With 13 years of experience under her belt, Marlys brings a wealth of knowledge regarding the Vermilion courts to the firm. We are very pleased to have her with us.
